There is only over a month until the anticipated television adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events hit the small screen. But, as early as now, Neil Patrick Harris, is already doing press rounds for his upcoming project. In his guest appearance in The View, the actor talked about his character, Count Olaf, and the great lengths the villain goes through in order to get close to the Baudelaire orphans.
Transforming Into A Villain
In order to become Count Olaf, Harris recounted that he has to sit through two hours of prosthetics in order to achieve the villainous look. But, his wardrobe changes every time the series tackles another book.
Count Olaf follows Violet, Klaus and Sunny as they move from one guardian to another. The villain wears disguises in order to get close to the children and collect their inheritance.
So, the great challenge of this role for Harris is to act as Olaf in several disguises. “Each book he dons a different disguise,” he told the hosts of The View. He also joked that Captain Sham (Olaf’s disguise for book 3, The Wide Window) kind of sounds like Sean Connery. (Watch his interview here.)
Harris already previewed the disguises Olaf will wear in Season 1 of A Series of Unfortunate Events. On his Twitter, he published stills of Stefano, Captain Sham and Shirley.
